Their faces say

Even worse, is that you can sometime hear God's children asking if fasting and prayer are still meant for today's believers. The last I checked, the word of God was never-changing. The fact of the matter is, that it's a necessity today, more than it has ever been.

Fasting and prayer shouldn't be viewed as a new move toward spiritual order. They aren't an aspect of something designed for man, by man. Nor should they be used to alter situations or create the ones that are more in line with what we want. The combination is a biblical command that is suitable to all believers, regardless of their age.

We all learned about fasting and prayer in church at one time or another. Yet, how many of us have actually done it. This is the exact reason that its importance goes unrecognized. We are not only blind to what the Word teaches about the combination; we are also unaware of how to fast.

Too many people equate fasting with some sort of chore. For others is just seems plain old hard. Have you ever noticed the looks on the faces of people who hear that a person has fasted for what would be considered an impossible amount of time? Their faces say, "I'd have died!!!"

Before I go any further, let me make a few things clear. I am a believer in fasting and prayer. However, I will recommend that if you are unfamiliar with the practice, don't go jumping in all willy-nilly. Don't attempt to be Gandhi the first time you fast. A fast can be forgoing a single meal. In a nutshell, I suggest you seek spiritual guidance before doing anything.
